CONFERENCE

Welcome to the first International Conference on Child Friendly Inclusive Education that is going to be held in Dhaka , the capital of Bangladesh , to be organized by the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka , the most prominent national public university in Bangladesh . The historic University of Dhaka , established in 1921, is situated in a charming, vibrant Dhaka city. IER is the largest academic and research institute in Bangladesh that offers Degrees, training and does research.

The aim of the conference is to get an opportunity to share and disseminate ideas, research findings, academic and field-level experiences of different countries to promote child friendly and inclusive education more effectively. The following are the sub-themes that will be addressed in the conference:

  • Equity, Access & Social Inclusion for Inclusive Education (i.e. Accessibility and physical facilities)
  • Curriculum and Pedagogical Reforms that facilitate Child Friendly Inclusive Education
  • Teacher Education (Pre-service and In-service) Reforms for Education
  • Educational Leadership, Assessment and Reflective Practice for Inclusive Education
  • Collaborative practices (University-school, School-School, School-NGOs, Special Education and Inclusion, GO-NGO etc.)
  • Good Practices: Case studies of successful inclusive education practices/individuals.
  • Creating child friendly environment education for all.
  • Rehabilitation for inclusive education through community participation.

Participants:

  • The Conference is open for academics,
  • practitioners, researchers, students, parents, teachers, NGO-workers, public servants and policy-makers with an interest in promoting child friendly inclusive education from all over the globe.

Venue:

  • Conference Room: The Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka
  • Accommodation: Accommodation of international delegates will be arranged by the conference organizers in local hotels with all meals and transportations.

Call for Papers:

  • Deadline for submission of abstract and post conference workshop (half day) proposal is 31 October, 2009 .
  • Acceptance of the abstract will be notified by the15 November, 2009.

Presentation Format:

  • The abstract should be limited to 150 words only.
  • Details of workshop like title, objective and summary of content is to be submitted. Maximum participants would be 20 in each workshop.

Selection of abstracts and workshop proposal:

A Scientific committee will review all abstracts and proposals submitted by the due date. Abstracts will be selected on the basis of relevance to the conference theme, clarity and ability to address the breadth and scope of the conference. Selected authors will be notified after 15 November, 2009 . The Scientific Committee will keep the right to decide presentation mode of each paper i.e., seminar or poster presentation.
